I got a call from Dani Dumont the other day asking if i would like to go camping for Patrick Grahams birthday. I decided i should go since i had the weekend off and needed a few day break from Hiawassee. The recommended route from Google maps was going through Clayton down Hwy 76 and your basically on that for about 45 miles. Well my GPS must be "special" because it took me a different route and added an hour to my drive...
I got to the camp site and setup my hammock and it took a whole 2 minutes! so then i built a fire, opened a beer, and sat and relaxed while i watched everyone setup their tents (nice right?). Well anyway we sat around the fire for a while and then we made some hobo meals. Basically hobo meals you start with some foil and put in sliced potatoes, carrots, onions, and anything else you would like. Wrap it up and put it in the hot coals. Later that night we all walked to the beach and laid down, watched the stars, and talked about random topics. We saw several shooting stars.
The next day i got up at 7 a.m. and started cooking the bacon and sausage. By the time that was done everyone was awake and i made breakfast for them all. We sat around the fire until around noon and packed up and headed out. We went to the bridge below the dam that we were near and i took some great photos. (see photo under landscape section of a river with several stones through the middle). After that Josh and Cindy went home and Patrick, Dani, and I drove up to Clemson to the State Botanical Garden. They had a great new rock exhibit that had just opened today. We then walked around a pond filled with Koi Fish, Turtles, and other assorted pond life. We then parted ways and went home. What a great weekend!
